Little League Age Chart 2026: Find Your Child’s League Age

Cora Maddox

Look up your child’s 2026 Little League age by birth month and year, compare baseball and softball cutoffs, and check division eligibility.

For the 2026 season, Little League baseball uses your child’s age on August 31, 2026. Softball uses their age on December 31, 2025. League age is not necessarily their age on registration day or opening day. These are the official Little League age-determination rules.

Choose the sport first, then find your child’s birth year in the appropriate column below. This chart is for 2026 only—not 2027 registration.

2026 Little League age lookup

For baseball, choose either the January–August or September–December column based on the child’s birth month. For softball, the birth month does not change the result.

This combined lookup reproduces the birth-year groupings in Little League’s official 2026 baseball age chart and 2026 softball age chart.

2026 league age Baseball: born Jan–Aug Baseball: born Sep–Dec Softball: born any month
4 2022 2021 2021

6 2020 2019 2019

11 2015 2014 2014
12 2014 2013 2013
13 2013 2012 2012

15 2011 2010 2010
16 2010 2009 2009

Examples near the baseball cutoff

  • Born August 31, 2014: baseball league age 12 in 2026.
  • Born September 1, 2014: baseball league age 11 in 2026.
  • Born any time in 2014: softball league age 11 in 2026, even if the child turns 12 before the season starts.

Those results follow the two official charts above. For a quick calculation, baseball league age is 2026 minus birth year for January–August birthdays, or 2025 minus birth year for September–December birthdays. Softball league age is 2025 minus birth year for every birth month.

Which baseball division can they play?

League age establishes eligibility; it does not guarantee a particular team placement. Little League’s baseball division eligibility rules allow overlapping age ranges for regular-season play, and local leagues may narrow several of those ranges.

Baseball division Eligible league ages Important qualification
Tee Ball 4–7 Confirm the local program’s age groups.
Minors: coach or machine pitch, early entry 5–6 Requires one completed regular season of Tee Ball.
Minors 7–12 Local leagues set age groups and pitching formats.
Majors 9–12 A league may limit this to ages 10–12 or 11–12.
Intermediate (50/70) 11–13 A league may use a narrower range.
Junior 12–14 A league may use a narrower range.
Senior 13–16 A league may use a narrower range.

Do not use this baseball division table for softball. Check Little League’s separate softball division guidance and your local league’s registration options.

Before paying the registration fee

Send the registrar your child’s full birth date and ask:

“For the 2026 season, what is my child’s league age in this sport, which divisions can they register for, and how is final placement decided?”

If two divisions are available, ask about pitching format, practice nights, game frequency and how beginners are placed—not just the division name. The age chart answers eligibility; those details help you decide whether the team fits your child and family schedule.

For a first season, see T-ball starting ages and readiness. If you are comparing Little League with another organization, use our guide to baseball leagues for kids rather than assuming this cutoff applies to every youth baseball program.
